Within the framework of the ERASMUS+ project SKILL2SUSTAIN, a training and professional study visit was successfully implemented at the partner institution, the University of Ljubljana, from 7 to 10 July 2026. On behalf of the University College “CEPS – Center for Business Studies” Kiseljak, the activities were attended by the President of the Senate and Senior Lecturer Samir Ščetić.

During the stay at the University of Ljubljana, working meetings and expert consultations were held with professors Toma Cerovšek, Matjaž Mikoš, and Krištof Oštir, distinguished experts in the fields of digital technologies, sustainable development, spatial planning, and risk management. The focus of the meetings was on the exchange of experiences, the presentation of contemporary approaches in higher education, and examples of good practice in the application of innovative technologies in teaching, research, and the management of infrastructure and environmental systems.

Special attention during the training was dedicated to the programme “Early Warning Systems and Real-Time Disaster Monitoring” (5 ECTS), which covers modern approaches to early warning systems, real-time data collection and processing, the application of sensor networks, GIS technologies, remote sensing, and digital platforms for disaster monitoring and management. This field is of particular importance for CEPS in light of the introduction of the new study programmes Disaster Risk Management (180 and 240 ECTS), within which a related course is planned. The training therefore represented an important step in the development of the professional and teaching capacities of the staff for delivering contemporary content in the fields of disaster management and community resilience.

In addition to professional development, discussions were also held on the possibilities for further academic and research cooperation between CEPS and the University of Ljubljana, including joint projects, staff exchange, and the development of innovative educational content aligned with European standards. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening digital and green competencies, improving the quality of the teaching process, and developing an interdisciplinary approach to education. Colleagues from the University of Ljubljana donated to CEPS a book entitled “Fundamentals of Hydrology” with the aim of strengthening the literature and research capacities of the Research and Education Center (REC).

The knowledge and experience gained will be transferred and implemented through teaching, development, and research activities at CEPS, with the aim of improving the quality of education and supporting the process of modernization of the study programmes.
