Abstrakt:
This project strives to elevate the capabilities of higher education institutions in Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Serbia. It aims to equip specialists with the skills to implement dynamic interventions that foster inclusion and common values in correctional settings, thereby supporting democracy and the rule of law. This unique partnership, a fusion of public-private initiatives, brings together education, the labor market, enterprises, research hubs, and the learner's perspective. It seeks to redefine higher education institutions as lifelong learning hubs, benefiting not only students but also working professionals. The introduction of two pioneering curricula in correctional pedagogy, a first in the European space, focuses on equipping learners with 'pedagogy-first' interventions. This multidisciplinary approach integrates law, psychology, social sciences, and education, dynamically benefiting children and youth in contact with the law. The project employs three key methodologies for success: DACUM approach workshops engaging employers and the labor market to identify current and foresight competencies; structured public hearings involving civil society, researchers, and public authorities to establish 5 Balkan Research Centres for Correctional Pedagogy joining the “LiberateSkills” Pact for Skills; and peer learning & mentoring between higher education staff from Western Balkan countries and two additional Balkan nations (Romania and Greece). This collaborative effort aims to develop regionally targeted research that is tailored to Balkan contexts, needs, cultures, and socio- political settings.
Ciljevi projekta:
1. SO1: To develop a co-production methodology for the HE institutions to coordinate in developing accurate and adapted Joint Correctional Pedagogy Ecosystem and a new Correctional Pedagogy Competencies Strategy including policy recommendations and "CORE-ED ACADEMIA" practices to support the HE sector growth and resilience at a National and regional level .
2. SO2: To update the existing and emerging Occupational Profiles present in the juvenile justice with new competencies by building an understanding of the principles of pedagogy-first in correctional settings; .
3. SO3: to foster innovation by providing new Joint Training Schemes and modern Recognition Systems under the form of 2 HE courses, one for bachelor level students studying relevant and connected disciplines identified and one for professionals as further education post-bachelor short form HE education.
4. SO4: To improve the research base and the conditions for excellence in research by providing opportunities for academia to connect with correctional state authorities and civil society, but also to provide students and correctional professionals facilities to drive local based research initiatives in juvenile justice.
5. SO5: To enhance the capacity of Education Providers and Correctional Representatives to co-create Correctional pedagogy ecosystems in juvenile justice-related training and to develop more tailored Curricula and Up-Skilling opportunities that could support the development of the sector.
6. SO6: To bring together all the Education Actors (Training Companies, VET providers, HEIs, correctional facilities and civil society) with the market representatives and umbrella associations in order to achieve a greater impact.
7. SO7: To raise the quality of HE provision and the attractiveness of the correctional sector at a European, National, Regional and Local Level.
